RubADub.....I think you got something there with the JW-Survivor show. That would be funnier than hell to watch a group of zealous JW's trump up disfellowshipping grounds against one another in order to win a TV Reality show. The whispering and backbiting in private would be like being at the KH.

JW-Based Reality Show !!!
by RubaDub inso as not to hijack the paulapollos thread, i just couldn't help but think about the possibility of a jw-based reality show.. i have two initial ideas at this time but other ideas are welcome..
) a "house" type of reality show.
this would be like a bethel type of setting with a dozen or so brothers living in a common area and cameras on them all the time.

The real apostates
by parakeet inignore post with no heading.
reason no.

What I find interesting is you can be considered an apostate for not agreeing with a doctrinal understanding such as the meaning of "this generation" and it's been what....changed 3 times since 1995? Wonder if anyone has been DF's for apostacy pre-1995 for believing "this generation" means what the WTS says it currently means?

When did Disfellowshipping start?
by God_Delusion inhello guy's & gal's,.
do we know what year disfellowshipping started?
also, for a bonus point, do we know who the first person to get disfellowshipped was?.

Think About It
I don't really mind the disfellowshipping doctrine even though it did take till 1952 for the WTS to decide the true religion needed to follow this. What I think is wrong is when shunning of family members is encouraged for the rest of their lives. You can have disfellowshipping over unrepentent bibical grounds, but the other petty stuff is BS. Other people can chose to avoid fellowsjip with that person, but you should still be able to be civil and Christian. Family members should still be able to have a normal "family relationship".
I remember the wife of a previous study had got herself DF'd. She was coming back to the meetings and was at the CO visit. After the meeting I had ask her something about her young son and how he was doing. Later, I find out the CO thought I shouldn't be speaking to DF people. I ended up chewing the CO's ass out! I didn't last too much longer after that.

How good is it to be out?
by hotchocolate ini was in the truth all my life, i pioneered and was deeply involved.
i left because i realised the real truth and i could not live a hypocritical life.

HotChoc.....good luck on your new life. If a person wants to be a JW that is fine by me, but for those not wanting to be one there is a new life waiting for you.

Since You're In The "World" Now What Types Of Friends Do You Have?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses are supposed to be the best friends you could ever have.
they're supposed to be genuine and loving.. not that you're out of jw friends, what's it like?.
-
Think About It
I have some friends, but nobody I would consider really close. I'm pretty sure none of them are JW's. That's the one thing about JW's....you can sweat, bled, cry & laugh with them, but if you leave the org. the friendship is over for the most part.
I'm hoping to make some e-mail friends here. I'm in Texas if anybody else is out there.

I've traveled quite a bit and have never regretted the money spent to explore the world and enjoy life. Been to some exotic places, but never the UK. Start by looking around the UK for something nice and exciting to do. Stay within your budet or you could regret the cost on down the road.

Is it time to move on from this board?
by John Doe ini spend too much time here goofing off when i should be working.
i no longer read doctrine threads or much of anything in the way of jw issues.
anyone else with similar thoughts?.

Wobble.....trust me, you never really move completely on. Except for about the final month I stepped down as elder, I was completely involved. Then quit and never went to another meeting, Memorial or read the WT literature. Even after 15 yrs you think about JW things sometimes...during things you would do, decisions you would make. I've lived a "normal life" since leaving and have done very well.
My story? I'll post it later, but when trying to be a good elder and seeing things the way they really were...I just couldn't stay any longer.

A lot has changed in the JW org since I left. I would have to change most of my discourses now.
I left and never ever went back. Was a straight arrow, regular guy elder with a lot of intregrity.

Advice Needed!
by Cthulhu inso, as some of you know, the dubs in my locale have this story about me and breaking and entering and selling stolen goods, etc.
i've recieved several calls during the last few days.
they've even stopped at my job, again.

Cthulhu....I was intrigued by your situation and registered.
To get a rise out of them.....I would turn in a time slip and count the books you sold to non-JW's.
On a more serious note.....you need to make it clear to those elders to never again come to or contact your place of employment. Your employer could let some time go by, then terminate you out of the blue because of a wack job situation like this. The at-will employment laws make it very easy for an employer to do this type of thing if they are sly.
Get an attorney if they do not heed the message. You want to document this incident as defense against religious discrimination, just in case you run into some work problems on down the line at work because of this.
Go to meetings or don't go to meetings. Meet with the elders or don't meet with them. You are a grown man and it is up to you.
